U.S. consumer prices unchanged in December

Consumer prices in the U.S. came in unchanged in the month of December, according to a report released by the Labor Department on Wednesday.

The Labor Department said its consumer price index was unchanged in December after falling by 0.3 percent in November. The latest figures matched economist estimates.

Excluding food and energy prices, the core consumer price index edged up by 0.1 percent for the second straight month. The modest increase in core prices also came in line with estimates.
