While the
Federal Reserve Bank of New York released a
report on Friday showing that conditions for New York manufacturers continued to improve
in March, the pace of improvement unexpectedly showed a modest slowdown
compared to the previous month.
The New
York Fed said its general business conditions index edged down to 9.2 in March from 10.0 in February, with a
positive reading indicating an increase in regional manufacturing activity. Economists
had expected the index to come in unchanged.
