European stocks close: stocks closed higher on hopes Greece’s debt negotiations will be positive

Stock indices closed higher on hopes Greece's debt negotiations will be positive. Earlier, Greece's new government said that it will not cooperate with the International Monetary Fund and the European Union.

Eurozone's final manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) remained unchanged at 51.0 in January, in line with expectations.

Germany's final manufacturing PMI declined to 50.9 in January from a preliminary reading of 51.0. Analysts had expected the final index to remain at 51.0.

France's final manufacturing PMI decreased to 49.2 in January from a preliminary reading of 49.5. Analysts had expected the final index to remain at 49.5.

The U.K. manufacturing PMI increased to 53.0 in January from 52.5 in December, beating expectations for a rise to 52.9.
