Polish equity market closed higher on Wednesday. The broad market measure, the WIG Index, grew by 0.15%. Sector performance within the WIG Index was mixed. Materials sector (+1.43%) was best performer, while oil and gas group (-1.48%) recorded the worst results.
The large-cap stocks' measure, the WIG30 Index, added 0.35%. In the index basket, FMCG wholesaler EUROCASH (WSE: EUR) led the way up, rising by 3.66%. Other major gainers were footwear retailer CCC (WSE: CCC) and genco PGE (WSE: PGE), advancing 3.34% and 2.23% respectively. On the other side of the ledger, oil refiner PKN ORLEN (WSE: PKN) posted the largest decline, tumbling by 2.92%. It was followed by gencos TAURON PE (WSE: TPE) and ENEA (WSE: ENA), and property developer GTC (WSE: GTC), losing 2.61%, 1.79% and 1.7% respectively.
