The European
Commission (EC) said on Thursday its flash estimate showed the consumer
confidence indicator for the Eurozone rose by 0.7 points to -14.8 in February from
an unrevised -15.5 in the previous month.
Economists had
expected the index to increase to -15.0.
Considering the
European Union (EU) as a whole, consumer sentiment improved by 0.8 points to -15.7.
Despite this
month’s gains, both indicators stood well below their long-term averages of
-11.1 (Eurozone) and -10.6 (EU).
