The European
Commission (EC) said on Monday its flash estimate showed the consumer
confidence indicator for the Eurozone recovered by 4.1 points to -14.7 in June from
an unrevised -18.8 in the previous month. Economists had expected the index to improve to -15.0.
Considering the
European Union (EU) as a whole, consumer sentiment improved by 3.9 points to
-15.6.
Despite this
month’s gains, both indicators remained well below their long-term averages of
-11.1 (Eurozone) and -10.5 (EU).
